Senaru Crater Rim 2 Days 1 Night 

The trek through thick tropical forest rich in flora, bird life and variety of butterflies. The first 30 minutes walking, you are in the open views with green coffee plantation, bamboos, and a variety of mix plantations that grows by local for living.

You are fully assisted and escorted by Our English Speaking Mountain Guide and local porters who carry the logistics, build up the tent, cook and serve your meal.

DAY 1: SENARU (600M) > CRATER RIM (2640M)

The road is good and easy from Senaru through the park entrance and continuing to the Post Extra. If you're lucky, you can see some black monkeys in the trees, even for a fraction of a second. Between Pos Extra and Pos 1, it starts to get very steep.

Stop for lunch at Pos 2: Montong Satas shelter (1,500masl). This is also the point where you start to notice the fog / clouds looming over you, as well as resting to cool down for about an hour. You'll have time to re-charge your energy, while our guide and porters prepare lunch for you. 

After lunch continue walk up another 2 hours to Pos 3: Mondokon Lolak (2,000 masl), take some rest here. The climb would get even steeper and rockier after Pos 3. You'll be rest for about 20 minutes and enjoy some snacks-break here, before finally getting off and making the strenuous climb up to Camp Site.

You should notice that the trees surrounding you are getting shorter, which typically signals the end of the forest is to come shortly and you'll find yourselves walking in the open air among bushes and tall grass. The climb would not be easy from here on. The first half of your leg might get muddy, wet, and surrounded by tall grass and shrubberies that are about waist to shoulder high. You'll get to Pos Extra and had to take shelter there for a few minutes since it often raining in the afternoon here.

After some rest, continued your way to the second half of the climb, which is a steep and intimidating path made of rocks refer to as the “Rock Wall”. This will be the hardest part of the climb. 

Finally, after what seemed like a never ending rocks after rocks, you'll reach a flat area and the camp sites started peeking through the mountains. You’ve finally arrived at Crater Rim Senaru Side (2641 masl)! You should find your tents already set up, the porters had also prepared a warm snack of banana fritters to welcome you.

Enjoy the views across the Lake Segara Anak to the summit of Mt. Rinjani and crater Gunung Baru Jari (2,351m) on a clear evening in the east side, or the Gili Isles, Bali and Mt. Agung can be seen to the west, unless, if Its quite foggy, you couldn’t see much of the lake views. After cleaning youself with wet tissues (there are no shower facilities here), dinner is served, have some sleep soon after.

DAY 2: CRATER RIM CAMPSITE > SENARU 

Get up early at 6:00 in the morning, just as the sun rises at 6:15 in the morning. The valley might still be foggy, but it's still beautiful.

Your guide and porters will serve breakfast with hot tea or coffee, fresh fruit, toast or pancakes or fried rice, then pack and clean the camp from trash to preserve nature and not leave rubbish, only footprints and happy memories. Begins to leave campsite while the sun is not too hot.

Descending the rocky path down was not easy and could be dangerous although basically just following the same route. Need extra caution to avoid slipped and broken legs on the rocky path. Post the rocky path, the ground inside the forest is soft and wet due to morning dew, so you need to think, execute quickly and confidently about each of your next steps to prevent slipping. A few stops will be made along the route to give your body time to rest, lunch break and snacks-which will be served by your guide and porters.

The trek ends at Rinjani Trek Centre at the road head in Senaru where the car is waiting to transfer you back to Senggigi, port gili island or direct to airport. End of the program.

NOTE: This gentle trek is good for beginners, or family with children (minimum 10 years old). Tour can leave any days except weather condition does not permitted or park closed by the National Park Authority due to unforseen circumstances.
